Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a day-of coordinator?

Every day-of coordinator is secretly frustrated by the title because the work definitely doesn't start on the wedding day. In fact, we begin working with our couples 8 weeks before the wedding. That's when we dive into timelines, vendor communication, logistics, floor plans, family dynamics, and all the little details that make the day run smoothly.

We like to say we execute the vision you create. You've spent a year (or more!) planning your wedding, and our job is to make sure you actually get to experience it. We'll communicate with your vendors, run the timeline, answer questions, solve problems behind the scenes, and keep everything moving so you can spend your day celebrating instead of coordinating.

  • Do you provide any resources?

Yes! When you decide to work with us, not only do we become a team with access to our experience, but we also send a wedding planning packet with a checklist and timeline template so you can start to see how your day will take shape.

We always bring my “wedding emergency kit” that has all sorts of goodies to help the day go smoothly.

  • Do you charge a travel fee?

Locations within 10 miles of our office are included. After that, it’s $1/mile.

Venues that are 90+ miles from Portland require an overnight fee of $200/night

  • Oh no! Something went wrong!

We'll let you in on a secret: something almost always goes a little sideways at a wedding. Most of the time, no one notices because someone is quietly handling it behind the scenes.

Sometimes it's a missing boutonniere. Sometimes a vendor is running late. And yes, one time a golf cart full of confused, slightly inebriated Star Wars Stormtroopers accidentally drove into a ceremony. You can't make that stuff up.

Our job isn't to guarantee that nothing unexpected happens. It's to make sure small problems stay small, and that the unexpected becomes a funny story instead of a stressful memory.

  • When do you leave?

Once the day is coordinated, we head out! This is typically once the dancing starts.

  • Do you have backup?

Rose & Fern Events is a small team but we support each other! Kaila and the team are here to make your special day go off without a hitch. We also have many contacts within the industry should something go sideways.
